We currently have lateral officers from numerous other parts of Montana and from other states around the country. Upon being hired, all officers begin with three weeks of initial training covering various topics. All officers must successfully complete a one-year probationary period to continue their employment with the Bozeman Police Department. Officers assigned to specific duties or tasks within patrol receive training unique to their duty.
It also includes opportunities to be trained as a departmental instructor in such things as firearms, defensive tactics, Police Vehicle Operations Course, and numerous other disciplines. Most patrol vehicles are shared by officers from opposing shifts.
